Nexus is your one brain: a hosted memory and command center. You connect the tools you already use, and Nexus reads them on a schedule, sorts what it can, and leaves your dashboard holding only the things that need a person — tasks, decisions, messages to send, and anything still unclear.
Setup takes about five minutes and three steps.
1. Sign in
Open the Nexus web app and sign in. Nexus uses WorkOS for authentication — your identity provider handles the password; Nexus never sees it. On a phone, install Nexus to your Home Screen for the full app experience (and to enable push notifications on iOS).
A short interview follows — a few skippable questions about who you are and what you're working on. Answers seed your profile so your agent has something to anchor on. You can edit everything later in Settings → Profile & Memory.
2. Connect a source
Pick a first connector — Google (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet), Slack, GitHub, Asana, Linear, or Fathom. You'll be sent to the provider's own consent screen and back. Nexus reads your recent activity to build your dashboard; it never writes to a connected account without your explicit approval (see Approvals).
On the Free plan, every connector is available with a 7-day lookback window. Details per provider in Connectors.
3. Choose where your agent runs
Skills — the procedures that read your sources and sort what they find — need a place to execute. Pick one — or both:
- Local Nexus Agent — a small daemon on your own Mac that runs work on your existing Claude subscription. Best value if you have a Claude plan. See Install the agent.
- Hosted runner — Nexus's cloud runtime, powered by your own Anthropic API key (paste it in Settings; it's encrypted the moment it arrives). Zero local setup; Anthropic bills you directly for usage.
If both are set up, work prefers your local agent whenever it's online and falls back to the hosted runner when it isn't.
Your first pass
Once a source is connected and a runtime is ready, Nexus schedules your regular cadence in your device's timezone and immediately runs a first pass over everything you connected. It reads each source, then sorts what it found.
The result lands on your Dashboard, which is the point: instead of a summary you read and then act on somewhere else, you get the things themselves — a task to complete, a decision to make, a message to send, and anything Nexus could not confidently sort, waiting as an open loop. You act on them right there.
A first pass usually takes two to three minutes. You do not have to wait for it — it keeps going if you close the tab.
Finding your way around
- Dashboard — the one surface that matters: what needs you today, grouped by what you would do about it, plus anything waiting for your approval. The badge on this tab counts pending approvals.
- Chat — talk to your agent. It knows your memory, cites what it recalls, and quietly saves things worth remembering.
- Vault — your notes: recent activity, people, and the memory log, all searchable together.
- Agent — the duty log: what's running right now, where it runs, and a ledger of recent runs. The logo in the nav breathes while a run is live.
- Settings (avatar menu) — Preferences, Profile & Memory, Connections, Schedules, Tokens & Agents, Billing, Teams.
